Ames model 1832 Artillery Short Sword on the original pattern 1839 artillery enlisted sword belt. The white buff belt is complete and in nice condition with raised letter SNY Artillery plate. The artillery short sword is in fine condition and dated 1833. Markings are visible but stamped at an angle and are faint in some places. The blade is bright and in fine condition and with the rare S. Huse Newburyport marking and inspectors cartouche. Sam Huse contracted with Ames in the early years to cast the brass parts for Ames. Ames son later married Huse's daughter. The leather scabbard is fine with the usual wear nicks and scrapes. A very nice example of a very rare sword and belt group.
