Second model Virginia Manufactory Musket in attic as found condition. Dark gun with sharp markings and dated 1818.The buttplate has heavy pitting probably from sitting in a damp cellar or barn. As seen on Type 2 muskets produced between 1818 and 1821 this example has the brass flash pan. Wood is nice with the exception of the comb which has a crack as shown in the photos. On the stock opposite the stock are the initials SWS crudely carved. The assembly mark 2 is visible on the on the top of the bands as well as on the bayonet lug. One of approximately 5000 produced in 1818 and hard to find in original flint and in attic untouched condition.
