Nice example serial number 3150 with matching numbers on all numbered parts. This is the exact gun pictured in CONFEDERATE LONGARMS AND PISTOLS by HILL and ANTHONEY on pages 50 and 51. Lock with sharp markings and dated COOK & BROTHER ATHENS GEORGIA 1863. Sharp Confederate First National Flag stamped on the back of the lock. Metal parts have a greyish brown patina with the damascus twist visible on the barrel in several places. Brass parts have been cleaned and retain a slight shine. The ramrod is incorrect and the stock has a repair in the wrist where it was broken through with several pins visible. The sear spring is a bit weak but holds on full cock. Overall a above average example of a rare Confederate longarm.
