The firm of Hadden, Porter and Booth in Philadelphia was one of the first firms to supply the new corrugated style AKA bullseye canteens. The first contract was in July 1862 for the replacement of the smooth sided canteens that were prone to dents. These canteens were delivered bare and were strapped and covered by the Philadelphia depot. The spout is nicely marked Hayden, Porter and Booth Phila. and still retains all off it's thick cotton and wool covering and cork stopper. The cover is dirty and stained from hard field use. The original shoulder strap remains but has been broken and tied together.
