Soldiers name, C.W. Green and 2nd Texas carved on one side with initials C.W.G. carved on the other side. Texas canteens are very hard to find and this is only the 2nd one I have came across in my years of collecting. Nice condition without the sling but with a wooden stopper. Charles W.Green served in Odium's company fighting in many of the actions in the Western theater including Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg and Sabine Cross Roads. Charles W. Green was born in Alexandra, Virginia in 1837 and sometime later moved to Texas. After the war he worked as a fancy goods merchant and passed away in 1916 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas.
