Fine to excellent example of the Spencer Navy Rifle. Very unusual to find especially in this condition. This model represents the first Spencer of any type purchased by the United States government. Produced between 1862-1864 this example, serial number 468, is one of approximately 709 purchased by the U.S. Navy. .52 caliber with 6 groove rifling and a large saber bayonet lug on the underside of the barrel. Beautiful condition rifle with fine wood and with some of the original blue finish remaining on the metal parts. The 6 groove rifled bore is sharp and bright.
