Fine to excellent condition example of a M1819 Hall rifle that someone has substituted a Simeon North breech block. The give away are the pinned barrel bands that is correct on a Harpers Ferry M1819. Simeon North used spring bands on the 5700 he supplied under contract to the U.S. government. According to noted firearms authority Tim Prince all of the Norths would have government inspectors cartouches whereas the Harpers Ferry arms do not. With all that said the logical conclusion would be that someone replaced the original breech block that that more than likely had been altered to percussion with an original North flint breech block. The gun is in fine to excellent condition remains of original finish visible in areas. The wood still has the raised grain often found on guns that are in excellent condition.
