A cornerstone piece of early Confederate hand gun collecting. Spiller & Burr Confederate revolver s/n 983 that was once in the collection of noted pioneer Confederate arms author and historian Bill Albaugh. This particular revolver is pictured in The Confederate Brass-Framed Colt & Whitney by Bill Albaugh published in 1955 on page 88. Nice gun with all matching serial numbers and cryptic letter G under the grips. It has beautiful burled walnut grips that are original to the gun. It has a very unusual blade type front sight. The cylinder is not serial numbered and has a very pronounced twist and the circular o often seen on Spiller cylinders. The loading lever key appears to be an old replacement. This gun comes with a letter from Bill Albaugh describing the gun and stating that he bought it in the early 1950's. Also is a note card detailing the gun with the notation of it's sale in January 1955. As far as provenance goes it does not get any better than this.
