Very nice example of the type lll model 1795 Harpers Ferry Musket with 1815 dated lock. Deep brown patinated barrel with clear markings and an Ohio surcharge. All metal parts with a nice deep brown color. Wood is dark with a slight gouge near the back of the lock and another behind the barrel tang. The most interesting thing about this musket is an attached rear site. The rear site is neatly attached to the top of the back barrel band. This the first time I have ever seen this and it is very well done. A fine and unique early U.S. musket. In an attempt to not let the truth interfere with a good story I am going to call it a sharpshooter variation.
