This is a beautiful sword. Maker marked COLLINS & CO. HARTFORD, CONN. 1862. Presented to a Lieut. James S. Fog by members of CO "C" 1st regt. RB. I went through the rosters and could not find a perfect fit. I think this is could be a post war presentation. I did find an officer by this name on an 1870s roll of Pennsylvania militia. The eagles on the scabbard jumps out at you across the room. Has a very nice sword knot attached. Beautiful sword and scabbard. See pictures.
