Confederate alteration of a U.S. model 1836 Waters contract flintlock pistol. The alteration appears to be a product of F. Persignon of Richmond, Virginia. Persignon's alterations are identified by the distinct 3 faceted bolster. A number flintlocks were altered in his shop for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Deep dark gun in attic untouched condition just the way you like to find them. Of particular not is the sporting hammer. Action is a little tight but still cocks. This gun has been in my collection for a number of years and is one of a few I am parting with.
