Fine Confederate Richmond Musket with 1862 date. Towards the end of 1862 the Richmond muskets started coming through with the scaled down high hump lock with brass nose cap and butt plate. This is one of those examples. Usually you see the type 2 Richmond with the steel butt plate and nose cap with the 1862 date. Wonderful example correct in every aspect. Richmond wood with the proper inletting, barrel has the typical mortise for the site and the barrel bands have the offset U. Deep Dark patina and nice wood stock with the straight ramrod channel. The linen confederate sling is in nice condition with all the leather intact. A great musket from a famous Confederate collection.
