Great old cane with a veterans home identification number. Neatly carved on cane are two names of old veterans. One name a Civil War veteran Elisha White who served in the 3rd Michigan Calvary during the Civil War and the other name is Charles W. Hott who served in the 32nd Michigan during the Spanish American war and also the 42nd U.S. infantry. On the top of the cane is a metal tag with the number 71 stamped in it. My guess according to my research is that this is the inventory number from the old soldiers home in Grand Rapids Michigan.
