One of the rarest of all Confederate Belts along with the Richmond style buckle. I have had 2 of these in my life and I believe this is by far the nicest one. It still retains 2 hangers although missing the hanger clasps. The leather hangers have two old repairs and one of the eyelet slits has a tear. The buckle has a beautiful deep dark patina as shown in the pictures. This is the 2nd one that I have owned that the belt was not sewn to retain the tongue. I have been told that these were left unfinished so that when issued they could be sewn to adjust. I was also told that these were captured at the Richmond Arsenal when it fell. It sounds perfectly reasonable this could explain the un sewn tongue end. Among one of the rarest of all Southern belt sets
