Extremely rare example of a Boyle Gamble / Kennansville Cavalry saber. In my years of collecting I have seen quite a few examples of this style of Confederate saber but I believe this is only the 3rd one with a copper scabbard. These swords have the classic Kennansville rounded spine blade along with the riveted throat scabbard and Kennansville mounts and drag. The guard and pommel cap are often called Boyle and Gamble style. With the large number of these swords encountered over the years I feel that they were made by a well established maker. Hopefully in the future new research may uncover who actually made these swords. Overall this sword is in nice condition with single strand copper wire grips and about 95% of the leather remaining.
