Consignment item 1/6 plate ambrotype of a Georgia Confederate seated holding his sword and pistol. The newer id inside the case could not be verified however reading the old paper in the back, the name appears to be corporal James Cock of Georgia 5th regiment. My research finds a James B. Cock enlisting in Co. E, 5th Georgia Regiment as a private and being discharged for disability on 4/8 1862. Taking that one step further I find a James B Cook enlisting as a corporal (date unknown) in the Georgia Regiment Battery A Artillery. I would bet that this is the same soldier. Image is clear with some emulsion damage on his left shoulder but not taking away from the image. Housed in a full leatherette case.
