Historically important autograph album signed by General Morgan and 71 of his officers while imprisoned at the Ohio State Penitentiary. After raiding Ohio and Indiana, Morgan and most of his command were captured near New Lisbon, Ohio on July 26, 1863. The enlisted men were sent to Camp Douglas near Chicago and the officers were imprisoned in the Ohio State Penitentiary in Columbus, Ohio. On the night of November 24, 1863 Morgan and some of his officers escaped and Morgan evaded capture and was able to make his way back to Confederate lines and freedom. This album is one of several known that were kept by the imprisoned officers. This album contains contains the autographs of virtually all of his men imprisoned including his brother in law Colonel Basil Duke. The album is in excellent condition and in it's original binding.
