A nice example of the early 64 pattern federal cartridge box with brass oval box plate. The early 1864 patterns are identified by the pear shaped brass finial, sewn and riveted latch tab and the smaller roller buckles. Manufacturer's mark CS STORMS clearly visible. Latch tab and belt loops intact with typical age cracking on front flap. One of the leather belt loops on the back has some stress as shown in the photos. A nice example of a federal enlistedman's cartridge box.
