Reprint copy of A Memoir of Captain Charles Seton Fleming of the 2nd Florida Infantry in the Army of Northern Virginia. The subject of the memoir, C.S. Fleming and the author, his brother Francis Phillip Fleming were born at Panama Mills, Florida on the St. Johns River. Initially Francis intended to write a simple tribute to his fallen brother who was killed at the Battle of Cold Harbor on June 3, 1864 rather than a regimental history. As the project progressed it began to tell the personal story of his brother from letters and notes taken by Seton and the role of the 2nd Florida Infantry on the battlefields of Virginia and at Gettysburg. The book tells the personal story of one soldier's experiences and at the same time, offers a broader perspective on Florida's contribution to the Confederate cause. Nice tight copy almost next to impossible to find.
