This is the first of the Steve Mullinax Tin Canteen collection I will be selling. According to Steve's notes this canteen and holster was purchased in 1977 at the Boyer Family Estate Auction by Lewis Leigh Jr. in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Steve's notes indicate he purchased the canteen in1979 for $100.00 and the holster for $30.00. The canteen is the typical Confederate tin canteen with one flat and one convex side. The holster is in nice condition and appears to be for the 49 colt pocket model. My research found 2 Boyers, David S. and George A. from Shenandoah County Virginia , probably brothers, who served in the 35th Battalion Virginia Calvary.
