Michigan ID disc with full bust of George Washington with rope inside the rim. Stamped on back is C.S. Montague Co. K 2nd Regiment Michigan V. War of 1861 Kalamazoo Mich. Twenty Two year old Calvin Montague enlisted as a Sargent in the 2nd Michigan Infantry in May of 1862 and rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. On March 11, 1863 he transferred into the 1st. Michigan Colored Infantry rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel by Brevet before mustering out in Charleston, South Carolina on Sept. 30, 1863. Montague was wounded July,1 1863 at Jackson, Mississippi.
