Item #: lg10

Full standing view of Thomas P. Owens with his accoutrements and holding his flintlock musket. Private Owens enlisted in the "4th Independent Co." Ohio Sharpshooters on September 1862 and was discharged for disability in May 1863 at Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Interestingly he is holding what appears to be a model 1795 flintlock musket, not an ideal sharpshooter weapon. They were later incorporated into company K 79th Ohio Infantry and were issued Spencer Rifles. The image is a little on the dark side but is clear and housed in a full leatherette case. His name and Camp R ????so? Ohio 1862 Sharpshooter company K are written in the back of the case.
