Very fine condition Whitney Navy Rifle also known as the Plymouth Rifle. Manufactured under an 1861 contract with the U.S. Navy. Estimated production is said to be around 10,000 arms completed in 1864. Iron mounted .69 caliber with a 34 inch barrel with 3 groove rifling. All metal parts are in fine condition with strong markings with the barrel dated 1863 and the lock 1864. Wood is fine with a few minor nicks and with a strong inspector mark opposite the lock. This gun shows very little use.
