The Courtney and Tennant imported Naval Cutlass with the sheet steel guard is considered to be the rarest of the 2 variations. These are unique due to the fact that they do not conform to any English patterns. These particular cutlasses were evidently fabricated to the Confederate Naval specifications and are unique to that service. A decent example with some erosion to the grips as shown in my photographs. The blade is bright with a few minor nicks on the edge. The Courtney and Tennant stamping is a little of center but visible on the blade.
