Fine example of a KG&K staff officers sword made in Columbia, South Carolina. Above average condition from what you normally see on these swords. Most of time the thin leather on the grips is missing but this one retains about 60% of the original leather. All of the thin strand wire wrap remains on the grips with a deep dark patina on the brass hilt and scabbard mounts. The metal scabbard has a deep dark patina with one dent near the brass drag. Etching is visible on the blade with the usual motifs and with crossed cannons and a CS. The blade has a few nicks and sharpening marks but overall is fine with a mottled gray appearance.
