McElroy officers sword presented to W.S. Brown . Research indicate that this is more than likely William Sumpter Brown born 1819 and passing away in 1879 of Cobb county Georgia. William S. Brown served in company K of the 7th Georgia Home Guard also known as the Cobb Repellers. The unit was made up of old men and young boys and served around Atlanta and at Andersonville, Georgia. The sword has an overall deep dark un touched patina with what appears to be a replaced scabbard. The scabbard fits the sword perfect and has a matching patina. The blade is dark and uncleaned with the typical McElroy strong etching. the grips are nice and appear to be polished wood with twisted wire wrap.
