Very fine example of a cavalry saber made by Louis Froelich of Kenansville, North Carolina. Brass scabbard mounts and the brass guard have a nice dark untouched patina. Grips are fine and still retain the original leather and copper wire wrap. Typical Kenansville scabbard with the riveted brass throat and lapped seam and still retaining parts of the maroon arsenal paint in places. The unstopped fuller blade has a dark uncleaned appearance with a couple minor nicks. The guard does not have a roman numeral marking found sometimes on the edge and the throat has 2 hash marks. This sword has been in my collection for over 25 years and I trust someone will enjoy it as much as I have.
