Decent example made to fit the 1855 rifle with a type 2 scabbard with the rectangular frog attachment. The spring latch is fine and operates properly. The brass hilt has a dark uncleaned patina with an SP inspectors initial on the flat before the barrel loop. The blade is marked US and has an overall dark grey mottled appearance with some pitting near the tip and several nicks on the edge. The type 2 leather scabbard is in fine condition with strong stitching. The brass throat and scabbard tip have a dark aged appearance.
