Nice example of an Ames light artillery saber dated 1863. The grips are fine retaining all of the original leather and twisted wire wrap. The brass guard and pommel cap have a nice, uncleaned patina. The blade has a mottled gray appearance with several minor nicks. The blade is marked US ADK and dated 1863 on one side with the Ames markings rather faint but visible on the opposite side. The scabbard is nice and retains a nice untouched brown patina.
