The Confederate States Armory was operated by Louis Froelich in Kenansville, North Carolina. Probably one of the most sought-after swords of the Confederacy are easily identified with CSA cast into the hilt. 1-inch-wide blade 29 1/2 inches long. Very fine example with 80% of the leather grips intact worn through in places by use. All of the single strand copper wire remains intact. The guard and all the brass parts have a mellow patina and with matching Roman numerals on the guard and scabbard throat. The blade has a mottled grey appearance and is free from any nicks or abuse. The scabbard has a brownish patina and has the typical crude lapped seam as found on these swords. Two dents visible on the scabbard are contemporary with the use to prevent noise or rattle, A very fine sword of top shelf quality.
