Above average condition type IV Fayetteville rifle with barrel and lock dated 1864. Barrel date and VP eagle are clearly visible with pitting around the bolster and nipple. The lock markings are sharp and clear, with the lock appearing to have been lightly cleaned some time ago. The barrel has a nice overall brown patina with the bore somewhat dirty but still retaining the rifling. All of the brass parts have a pleasing, mellow dark patina and appear to have never been cleaned. The wood is nice and still retains the J B cartouche, with about a 3-inch sliver of wood missing between the band and the nose cap.
