This example is one of the nicest Richmond Muskets available on the market today. This one is out of my personal collection and is dated 1862 and is in very fine condition. Brass nose cap and butt-plate indicating late 1862 production. All markings are sharp and clear with the exception of the barrel date, which is faint but visible and matches the lock date. The wood is nice with the usual nicks and dings, and has the classic Richmond mule shoe in-letting behind the lock. The ramrod channel is correct for the non-swelled ramrod. The barrel bands are the typical Richmond style with the misaligned U. The .58 caliber barrel has clean rifling and the typical teat in-letting for the rear sight found on Richmond muskets. Fine, tight example showing minimal use in very fine condition. The gun has an overall medium gray color, probably having been cleaned some time ago. It would be very difficult to find one in better condition on the market today.
