Grouping of relics consisting of 3 eagle A buttons, 2 U.S great coat buttons, US pewter cuff, eagle breast plate, mashed marine button, bayonet scabbard tip flint holder a musket flint and other miscellaneous items. Fort Brooke was and important military post established at the mouth of the Hillsborough river in the present day city of Tampa, Florida. The fort was established in 1824 as a trading post and served as a military post during the 2nd and 3rd Seminole Indian wars. The fort was witness to a minor minor skirmish during the War Between the states and was later decommissioned by the U.S. military in 1883. Today the Tampa Convention center and Tampa Bay History Center cover most of the original site.
