Very nice example dated 1861 and inspected by L. Dustin. Interesting sword with the double address, acid etched and the scroll stamped blade. This type markings are usually found in 1861 dated examples. Approximately 1000 Ames foot officers swords were delivered under a Government contract 1861-1862 with 425 dated 1861. The sharkskin grips and twisted brass wire wrap are 100% intact and in fine condition. The leather scabbard is in exceptional condition with a nice dark finish. The mounts are in fine condition with only a few tiny dents on the drag and top mount.
