Very good condition, showing field use. .54 caliber Austrian import musket. Large numbers, approximately 350,000, were imported by both sides during the American Civil War, with around 100,000 going to the Confederacy. The condition is far better than most encountered, with a dark patina on all metal parts. Pitting is visible around the nipple and bolster area. The lock is marked 862 for the 1862 year of production. The ramrod appears to be a replacement and not original to the gun. The wood is nice, showing the usual nicks and dings associated with field use.
