In excellent condition, showing very little use. Barrel and lock dated 1863 with very sharp markings and with a very strong VP over eagle stamping. The brass butt-plate has a CS stamping that appears to be contemporary with the use of the gun. 100% Richmond parts with the typical crude Richmond knurling on the hammer and offset Richmond U on the bands. The .58 caliber bore displays good rifling with very little pitting. The wood is fine with very few nicks and dings from storage. A very old repair is visible next to the barrel tangs, as shown in my photos, and in my opinion, after close examination, it appears to have been done at the time of manufacture at Richmond. The lock plate in-letting displays the typical Richmond mule shoe.
