UCV KEPI ID'ED TO G.B. BASKERVILLE WHO RODE IN FORREST'S 12TH TENNESSEE CAVALRY

Superb condition kepi with an inside label identifying it to the Reverend G.B. Baskerville. At his death in 1928, he was one of the few surviving members of Forrest's Cavalry. Baskerville ran away from home at the young age of 16 and joined the famous Cavalry leader, serving for 3 years through many of the campaigns during the war. After the war, he entered the ministry, married, and raised 5 children before passing away on July 31, 1928. He is buried in the Stanton Cemetery in Stanton, Tennessee.
Nicely constructed, reminiscent of Civil War kepis with the Ohio maker's label inside.
