Civil War Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifled Musket – .577 Caliber – All Original
Offered is an authentic Pattern 1853 Enfield rifled musket, one of the most iconic and widely used long arms of the American Civil War. This example remains complete in its original condition and has never been cleaned, making it a highly desirable "as-found” piece for advanced collectors. All metal surfaces display a smooth, even dark patina, untouched and consistent with age, giving the musket exceptional eye appeal and authenticity. The .577 caliber bore retains visible rifling, a strong indicator of preservation. The stock is in fine condition, showing attractive wood with a rich, untouched appearance, along with the expected nicks, dings, and handling marks acquired through period use—adding character without detracting from overall condition. A truly honest Civil War firearm, this Enfield represents the type of rifle-musket carried by both Union and Confederate soldiers, with hundreds of thousands imported from Great Britain during the conflict.
