Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver – Serial No. 218920 (1862 Production)

Manufactured in 1862, this Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver bears serial number 218920 and retains matching serial numbers throughout, including the wedge. One of Samuel Colt's most successful percussion revolvers, the Model 1849 was widely carried by civilians, frontiersmen, and soldiers during the antebellum period and Civil War era.

This example displays an untouched attic-found appearance with a pleasing dark brown patina overall. All barrel address markings and serial numbers remain visible, and traces of the original roll-engraved cylinder stagecoach holdup scene are still present. Mechanically, the revolver remains functional with good action and proper cylinder rotation.

Condition reflects long service and honest use. The loading lever plunger screw is missing and has been replaced with a period-style rivet. Numerous impact marks and nicks are present on the barrel, indicating the revolver was at some point used as an improvised hammer. Despite this abuse, the revolver remains complete, matching, and retains considerable historical character.

A well-used but attractive Civil War-era Colt pocket revolver that exhibits the wear and patina collectors often associate with an authentic frontier or wartime sidearm.
