An exceptional Confederate Southern agent-marked double barrel shotgun, this is the exact firearm illustrated on pages 150–151 of Confederate & Southern Agent Marked Shotguns. The finely scroll-engraved front-action locks are marked Dade, Hurxthal & Co. of Mobile, Alabama. According to the referenced publication, Dade, Hurxthal & Company began business in 1857 at 29 North Water Street and were prominent importers and dealers in hardware, firearms, rifles, and cutlery. The firm is well documented as having conducted business with the Confederate Government during the Civil War, making their marked firearms highly desirable to advanced collectors.

This shotgun measures 48 inches overall with 32-inch barrels, the top rib neatly marked "Laminated Steel." It remains in good overall condition with a pleasing, untouched appearance. Of particular interest is an old sheet brass repair that appears to be contemporary with the period of use, adding character and evidence of the gun's working history.

An outstanding published example of a scarce Confederate Southern agent-marked shotgun, offered by Richard Ferry Military Antiques, Florida's largest dealer in fine Civil War collectibles.

Price: $3,500.00 USD (Sale Pending)
