A fine original Union officer's sword belt dating to the American Civil War, preserved in attractive untouched condition. The belt retains its original sword hangers and is complete with its matching Model 1851 eagle sword belt plate and keeper. Both the buckle and keeper are stamped with the letter "E," indicating they were originally fitted together as a matched set, a desirable feature seldom encountered today.
The leather remains supple and displays an attractive age-old patina, while the brass mounts exhibit a pleasing untouched mellow finish. Complete, matching officer's sword belts of this quality have become increasingly difficult to locate, making this an excellent example for the advanced Civil War collector or display alongside a fine Union officer's sword.
