South Carolina Round Waist Belt Plate

Very rare round South Carolina belt plate made with the hooks perpendicular to the palmetto motif to be worn as a waist belt. Interestingly it is on an Emerson Gaylord belt and appears to have been there a very long time. Gaylord is known to have supplied accoutrements to various Southern States prior to the civil War. Another interesting feature is the crude sword hangar applied to the belt. It has all appearances of being a southern feature added at the time of the belts use. The belt is in well used condition with a repair next to the hanger that I did to stabilize the belt.
