SWORD OF OSCAR FITZALAN PEAKE 5TH FLORIDA INFANTRY, 11TH FLORIDA INFANTRY AND THE 5TH FLA. BATTALION CAVALRY. MADE BY E.J. JOHNSON MACON GEORGIA

Oscar F. Peake was a 32 year old school teacher when he enlisted at Madison Florida on March 26th 1862 in company "D" 5th Florida infantry. He was described at enlistment as 5'8", dark complexion, dark eyes, light hair. He resigned on September 2, 1862 due to ill health. On February 28, 1863 he was commissioned as captain in company "G" 11th Florida Infantry and served with that unit in Florida until he was commissioned into company "F" 5th battalion Florida Cavalry .Upon the loss of his horse he was assigned to the 1st. Florida reserves. After the war he lived in Madison County Florida and passed away July 8,1914
