Second model 5th type Whitney .36 caliber navy revolver. Total production estimated to be around 33,000 from 1859- 1866. This revolver serial number 32228 would indicate production 1865-1866.
Overall dark brownish patina with traces of blue on the underside of the barrel. The mechanical action rotates and operates properly. The brass trigger guard retains a dark patina and has never been cleaned. Very faint traces of the cylinder scene remaining. The wood grips are good with the exception of a crack on the left-hand side that has been reglued but still displays nice.
