FRANK S. BIAYS 1ST. POTOMAC HOME BRIGADE MARYLAND INFANTRY TACTICS MANUAL

Well worn and used copy of volume 1 of Casey's infantry tactics identified to Frank Scott Biays. Born on September 7th 1843 Frank Biays enlisted 12/1/1861 in company K of the 1st Maryland infantry Potomac Home Brigade as a sergt. major and rose to the rank of captain in 1865.
The 1st Maryland PHB saw heavy fighting during the Battle of Gettysburg around Culp's hill on the 3rd of July 1863 with 17 killed and 37 wounded. After the war Captain Biays lived in Denver ,Colorado and worked as a railroad track foreman passing away at the age of 81. He is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
The manual is nicely inscribed on the iside fly leaf, "FRANK S. BIAYS CAPT. CO.K 1ST MD REGT. POTOMAC HOME BRIGADE VETERAN VETERAN VOLUNTEERS." The copy is in well used condition but intact with the exception of the 2 fly leafs in the rear. A few of the pages have pencil marks.
