LOUISIANA IMPORT P 53 ENFIELD
Item #: df89

Extremely rare P53 Enfield marked with the L in the hexagram indicating purchase by the State of Louisianna. The lock plate is dated 1861 and the barrel measures 39 inches in length. Faintly visible are the 2 hexagram marks behind the trigger guard. The stock has a repair in the wrist along with a crack forward of the 2nd barrel band. The repair on the wrist can be seen under close magnification and is expertly done. The lock functions properly and is marked with 1861 over Tower and with the crown behind the hammer. The ramrod matches the overall patina on the gun but could be a replacement. The rear sight appears to be replacement but correct. Due to the repair in the stock, I have it priced far below what these rare Louisianna guns go for.
