Very fine condition musket made by P.S. Justice of Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. circa 1861. Total production is estimated to have been around 2500 arms. Justice appears to have purchased locks from the Springfield Armory and this one is marked Springfield 1852 and forward of the hammer is P.S. Justice, Philadelphia. Originally in .58 caliber this example appears to have bored out to about .71 caliber but still retains some of original rifling. All the metal parts are in the bright with strong markings. The barrel is marked P.S. Justice and with the serial number P 2432 on the barrel tang. A matching serial number P 2432 is also found on the barrel behind the rear sight. All of the brass parts are original to the gun and have a nice patina. The wood is in fine condition with the exception of a crack near the barrel tang.
