Item #: TB141

Nathan Starr was said to have manufactured approximately 6000 model 1817 under a contract with the U.S. Government. Under close examination this one appears to be original flint, but further examination reveals the bore to be .58 caliber. With that said there is a possibility that it could have been reconverted back to flint. The overall condition is very fine with a nice dark uncleaned color on all the metal parts. The rifle has sharp markings throughout with matching lock and barrel dates of 1840. The wood is fine with fine inspector's cartouches visible opposite the lock. All of the mechanical action is fine and operates properly. Overall, a very nice example of an 1817 common rifle.
