Rare Public Property rifle flask attributed to James Baker of Philadelphia. Baker received a Government contract for 2000 flask in March of 1825 and another for 3000 flask in November of 1827. Records indicate that the first contract was completed in March 1827 and received by the Government. A number of collectors feel that the Public Property flask were in the later contract for 3000. It is also thought by many that Baker contracted overseas for the manufacture of these flask. This flask is in untouched as found condition with a rich dark brown patina. The flask has a few dents as noted in the photographs and still retains all the 4 ring hangers on the sides. The spring for the mechanical opening door is intact and functional.
