Probably one of the nicest and historic Kerr Revolvers I have ever held in my hand. The provenance is easily traceable back to Pioneer Confederate Collector Hugh Benet Jr. in 1963 when it was pictured in Bill Albaugh's monumental book CONFEDERATE ARMS co authored by Edward Simmons and Hugh Benet Jr. Also this exact pistol is pictured in CONFEDERATE PRESENTATION & INSCRIBED SWORDS & REVOLVERS and also is the subject of an article appearing in the NORTH SOUTH TRADER issue 3 in 2011. by noted Historian and Author William J. Steir. In the article William Steir details an exciting history of Captain Smith featuring this revolver.
The revolver, serial number S461 is in excellent condition retaining at least 90% of it's original blue finish. The grips are fine with a strong JS Anchor stamping visible on the butt. The action is crisp with the exception of the cylinder rotation which can be easily repaired. With all the above said this is the nicest condition, provenanced and historic Kerr revolver to come to the market that I am aware of in my years of collecting. The revolver comes with the above 3 publications mentioned in the text.
